Good Questions, Honest Answers
Everything Syracuse neighbors usually want to know before their first visit — and if we missed one, just call.
What areas around Syracuse do you serve?
We're based in Syracuse (13202) and cover about a 20-mile reach. That's every city neighborhood, from Eastwood, Sedgwick, Lincoln Hill and the Northside to Tipperary Hill, Strathmore, the Valley, Westcott and University Hill, plus nearby towns and villages such as Liverpool, Clay, North Syracuse, Cicero, Solvay, Camillus, DeWitt, East Syracuse, Fayetteville, Manlius and Baldwinsville. Live just past that line? Give us a call anyway, since a longer to-do list often makes the drive worthwhile.
Do you give free estimates?
Yes. Most jobs can be priced from a few clear photos and a short phone call. Bigger or less predictable projects, like a stretch of failing plaster or a full gutter rehang, get a free look in person. Either way, you'll have a firm number before anything goes on the calendar.
Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
By the job whenever we can, so you know the cost before we start. For open-ended punch-list visits we agree on a rate and a rough scope together, so nothing comes as a surprise. If the work goes faster than expected, the bill reflects it.
Are your pros licensed and insured?
Yes. The work is done by insured local pros who hold the licenses and registrations required in New York for the job at hand, so electrical and plumbing connections are handled by licensed tradespeople. Ask us anything before we start.
What jobs do you take on?
The everyday repair and upkeep list: plaster and drywall patches, door adjustments, TV and shelf mounting, furniture assembly, ceiling fans and light fixtures, dimmers and smart switches, hardwired doorbells and thermostats, faucet, toilet, disposal and supply line repairs and replacements, fence and gate fixes, gutter cleaning and repair, pressure washing, paint touch-ups, garage storage and seasonal maintenance. Send the whole list and we'll plan one visit around it.
Do you work in two-family houses and rentals?
All the time. Syracuse has thousands of upper-and-lower flats, and many owners live in one unit and rent the other. We can handle repairs in both units in one trip, help landlords get a unit ready between tenants, and work around a tenant's schedule when you give us a contact. In pre-1978 rentals we use lead-safe practices whenever we disturb painted surfaces.
Can you get my house ready for winter?
Yes, and fall is the best time to call. Before the first lake-effect band arrives we clean and check gutters and downspouts, re-secure hangers that ice will pull on, seal gaps around doors and windows, swap screens for storm panels, shut off and drain outside spigots, test smoke and carbon monoxide alarms and look for anything that will turn into a leak once snow piles up on the roof.
Do you work in the winter?
Yes. Indoor work like plaster repair, painting, fixtures, fans, doors and plumbing goes on all winter, and it's often the easiest time to get on our schedule. Outdoor work depends on the weather: we can fix a storm door or re-secure a sagging gutter on a clear day, but some jobs, like pressure washing and fence post setting, wait until the ground and temperatures cooperate.
Can I just text you a photo of the problem?
Please do. One close photo, one from across the room and a sentence about what's happening is usually enough to understand the job and often to give a firm price. Seeing the problem ahead of time also lets us load the right parts before we head your way.
Got a list? Let's shorten it.
One quick call or text gets you a real price and a real arrival time — usually within the week.
